Officine Panerai was established in 1860 by Giovanni Panerai in Florence, Italy. By 1900, Panerai’s grandson Guido had expanded the business by specializing in high precision mechanisms and supplying the Royal Italian Navy exclusively. Among the brand’s famous accomplishments is the Radiomir, the first attempt at improving dial readability in darkness and water. Throughout the years, Panerai’s dedication to navy supply has perpetuated many other advancements, including the Luminor and the Mare Nostrum Chonograph.
